The SALOON is starring in excellent food since 1971.
Now, according to European Standards it continues its programme and service starting at four o’clock in the afternoon. Its authentic WESTERN style with its amazing mahogany bar, the baroque tapestries, the red velvet curtains, the unique elaborate chandeliers, the cowboy hats with the six-shooters, don’t leave you indifferent.
The decor from the all time movie “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” makes you imagine that Clint Eastwood, gun in hand, and the Dalton Brothers with Lucky Luke will appear.
The final result is recorded by Kostas Voutsas in the shop’s “signature and comments book” in 1973. “I felt like a ringo. I ate very well and I want to eat well again. I’ll be back and I’ll be back….without guns.”.
All the intellectuals, artists and politicians have been to and admired this place. Who to remember first? The unforgettable Manos Chatzidakis, 80 years of whose birth we celebrate this year, the maestro Theodore Antoniou, our famous painters Tsarouchis, Fasianos, our youth writer Antonis Samarakis, Gatsos, Germanos, Minotis, Karezi, Kazakos, Fasoulis, Potamitis, Konstantinos Karamanlis, Andreas Papandreou and many many others who sealed the first piano-restaurant of Athens with their passing.
With the soft melodies of the piano, which enhance the romantic atmosphere, the customer enjoys its menu with original serving and accepts the surprises of the evening. The customer service remains the biggest asset of the venue.
This is the SALOON, not in far away TEXAS, but in Ilissia, in 36 Alkmanos Street behind the HOLIDAY INN, next to St. Charalambos church.
